What’s Happening at the Church House?

The building remains closed with a few exceptions. There is a longer answer, however, as the ongoing work of the church continues.

Our treasurers continue make sure gifts are received, deposits are made, and financial obligations are met. Thanks Jon, Kris, and Elizabeth!

Our church sexton makes sure the building is cleaned and sanitized. He is taking this time to do some deeper cleaning. Thanks, Delvakio!

Alan continues to tend to the administrative work and helping us stay connected and informed. He is working remotely, and stops by the church house a couple of times a week to collect and organize mail and tend to administrative needs that he cannot do from home.

In addition, we had an opportunity to support another of our ministry partners while our building is mostly empty. Luke 14:12 needed a place where a team of two people could prepare meals safely during this time. On Mondays and Thursdays Amy Dodson-Watts and her colleague Alec Miller prepare hundreds of meals in Glendale’s kitchen and take them to Room in the Inn to be distributed. In a time when we all want to be able to do something, we are grateful that our kitchen was just what the Luke 14:12 folks needed.

What is the best way to reach church staff?

Alan is still available at the regular church phone number, 615-269-0926, if you have questions or needs regarding the building or programming. And of course, the pastors are always available by text: April 615-403-2438; Amy 615-429-1711 (our phones stay on all night, so text in the wee hours only if it’s an emergency), phone call, and email.

How can I give my tithes and offerings?

Giving our tithes and offerings is an act of worship for us. As part of our online worship, we include a time for giving and include ways to do that electronically. Whether you are able to join us for worship or not, you can participate in the act of giving in one of these ways:

  • set up an automatic payment with your financial institution. Your credit union or bank will send a check to the church directly for whatever amount you indicate for whatever time period you choose. Need help setting that up? Let Alan know and we will make sure someone contacts you.
  •  use the tithe.ly app. Download it on your phone or other device. It’s a simple process. Again, if you need help, let us know.
  •  use Venmo. The church address is @GlendaleBaptist. Using Venmo means that your entire gift goes directly to the church.

Trying to decide between Tithe.ly and Venmo? Two things to consider:

  • Tithe.ly charges a transaction fee for each gift. You have the option of increasing your gift to cover the charge, or letting it come out of the amount you give. Venmo does not charge any extra fees.
  •  You can set recurring gifts with Tithe.ly. Venmo does not offer that service.
